When I was young, I didn't know that Maple trees flowered - I thoght that the green I saw were early leaves. Older and wiser, I correct my misunderstanding 390.12.

I love the Skunk >>> Cabbage. its uncurling, unfolding leaves after its bizarre flowering - wonderful green color and bold veins. It's found in moist to marshy soil.

Spring Beauties (390.8) have edible tubers - I dug one up and ate it right on the spot - not so, the Indian Strawberry (flower left) fruit is pretty but tasteless . . .hmmm, but maybe with a little marinade. . . who knows?
