If a headless Mallard and a watersnake eating an eel count, then I continue to discover the unusual as I ply the park through Spring.

The Mallard body below (368.13) was on the path without a head - no sign of struggle - odd find but an opportunity for a close up of the feather pattern.

I was fortunate to find the seed (far right) > lodged against a branch and back lit - the seed is about 1/2 inch long.

<A fellow walker alerted me to this scene (left) - He said it was a snake eating a snake - As I approached with my camera, I saw that it was a water snake eating an eel . . .interspecies poetry?
